Moderate tremor of magnitude 4.4 just reported 73 km southeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan4.4 quake 27 Sep 9:11 am (GMT +4:30) A magnitude 4.4 earthquake near Faizabad, Faīẕābād, Badakhshan, Afghanistan, was reported only 19 minutes ago by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate depth of 130 km beneath the epicenter in the morning on Monday, September 27th, 2021, at 8:41 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Ashkāsham (pop. 12,100) located 31 km from the epicenter, Jurm (pop. 12,100) 38 km away, Ishqoshim (pop. 26,000) 38 km away, and Faizabad (pop. 44,400) 73 km away.
