Magnitude 3.0 earthquake strikes near Susitna North, Matanuska-Susitna, Alaska, USA 3.0 quake 14 Oct 12:16 pm (GMT -8) An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred only 13 minutes ago 15 miles southwest of Susitna North, Alaska, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported. The quake hit at a shallow depth of 14 miles beneath the epicenter near Susitna North, Matanuska-Susitna, Alaska, USA, around noon on Thursday, October 14th, 2021, at 12:16 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Susitna North (pop. 1,300, 15 miles away), Willow (pop. 2,100, 15 miles away), Houston (pop. 2,200, 24 miles away), Meadow Lakes (pop. 7,600, 28 miles away), Tanaina (pop. 8,200, 31 miles away), and Knik-Fairview (pop. 14,900, 34 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
