Small magnitude 3.3 earthquake 45 miles northwest of Alaska City, Alaska, United States 3.3 quake 15 Nov 3:09 pm (GMT -9) An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 occurred only 15 minutes ago 45 miles northwest of Alaska City, Alaska, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported. The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 1.5 miles beneath the epicenter near Alaska City, Anchorage, Alaska, USA, early afternoon on Monday, November 15th, 2021, at 3:09 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.3 as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Susitna (pop. 18) located 15 miles from the epicenter. In Willow (pop. 2,100, 27 miles away), Big Lake (pop. 3,400, 32 miles away), Meadow Lakes (pop. 7,600, 41 miles away), Knik-Fairview (pop. 14,900, 43 miles away), Alaska City (pop. 298,700, 45 miles away), Wasilla (pop. 9,300, 47 miles away), Tanaina (pop. 8,200, 47 miles away), Eagle River (pop. 24,800, 49 miles away), and Eagle River (pop. 24,800, 49 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
