Small magnitude 3.0 quake hits 31 miles southeast of Naalehu, Hawaii, United States early afternoon

Just 36 minutes ago, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Naalehu, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Monday, December 20th, 2021, at 2:48 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 5.8 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.1.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Naalehu (pop. 870, 31 miles away), Pāhala (pop. 1,400, 32 miles away), Hawaiian Ocean View (pop. 4,400, 41 miles away), and Volcano Village (pop. 2,600, 43 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
