OP Webmaster Launch Director Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 678,976 Los Angeles, USA	Moderate magnitude 4.6 quake hits 85 km west of La Libertad, Mexico in the morning 4.6 quake 26 Dec 10:43 am (GMT -8) An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred 35 minutes ago 85 km west of La Libertad, Mexico, Mexico's National Seismological Service (SSN) reported. The quake hit at a shallow depth of 11 km beneath the epicenter near La Libertad, Pitiquito, altar sonora, Mexico, in the morning on Sunday, December 26th, 2021, at 10:43 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.6 as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Puerto Lobos (pop. 120) located 73 km from the epicenter, and La Libertad (pop. 2,800) 85 km away.
