Small magnitude 3.0 quake hits 37 miles northwest of Toyah, Texas, United States early morning
3.0 quake 22 Feb 6:50 am (GMT -6)

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.0 quake in the United States near Toyah, Reeves County, Texas, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, at 6:50 am local time at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.0 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.0.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Toyah (pop. 98, 37 miles away), and Loving (pop. 1,400, 45 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
