An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred only 13 minutes ago 42 miles southeast of Hawthorne, Nevada, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 7.5 miles beneath the epicenter near Hawthorne, Mineral County, Nevada, USA, in the morning on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022, at 10:17 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.5 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.5.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Mina (pop. 160) located 17 miles from the epicenter. In Hawthorne (pop. 3,300, 42 miles away), and Tonopah (pop. 2,500, 43 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
