Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.6 just reported 36 km southwest of Antalya, Turkey 4.6 quake 36 km southwest of Antalya, Turkey, Mar 1, 2022 7:43 pm (GMT +3) The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.6 quake in Turkey near Antalya, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early evening on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022, at 7:43 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 5 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Göynük (pop. 6,000) located 6 km from the epicenter, Кемер (pop. 17,300) 6 km away, and Tekirova (pop. 20,000) 14 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Antalya (pop. 758,200) located 36 km from the epicenter, Muratpaşa (pop. 450,000) 37 km away, Beykonak (pop. 30,300) 38 km away, and Belek (pop. 73,300) 56 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Manavgat (pop. 99,300) located 86 km from the epicenter.
