Magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes near Thal, Upper Dīr District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan 4.8 quake 13 Jun 10:34 am (GMT +5) A magnitude 4.8 earthquake near Thal, Upper Dīr District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, was reported only 10 minutes ago by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate to considerable depth of 203.3 km beneath the epicenter in the morning on Monday, June 13th, 2022, at 10:34 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Thal (pop. 29,300) located 47 km from the epicenter, Dīr (pop. 29,900) 66 km away, Kakad Wari Dir Upper (pop. 3,000) 91 km away, and Āsmār (pop. 15,700) 99 km away.
