Small magnitude 3.1 earthquake 38 miles southeast of King Salmon, Alaska, United States 3.1 quake 2 Jul 5:22 am (GMT -8) A magnitude 3.1 earthquake near King Salmon, Bristol Bay, Alaska, USA, was reported only 8 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate to considerable depth of 105 miles beneath the epicenter early morning on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at 5:22 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.1 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.1. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In King Salmon (pop. 370, 38 miles away), Naknek (pop. 79, 47 miles away), Egegik (pop. 110, 48 miles away), and Naknek (pop. 540, 48 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
