Small 3.5 quake hits near Kodiak Station, Kodiak Island, Alaska, USA 3.5 quake 58 mi west of Kodiak, Alaska, USA, Jul 19, 2022 7:35 am (GMT -8) An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred in the morning on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022, at 7:35 am local time near Kodiak Station, Kodiak Island, Alaska, USA, as reported by the United States Geological Survey. According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 21 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.5 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.5. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Larsen Bay (pop. 88) located 12 miles from the epicenter, and Karluk (pop. 37) 20 miles away. In Port Lions (pop. 200, 42 miles away), Old Harbor (pop. 220, 43 miles away), Aleneva (pop. 37, 46 miles away), Womens Bay (pop. 720, 48 miles away), Kodiak Station (pop. 1,300, 51 miles away), and Akhiok (pop. 72, 53 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
