Just 9 minutes ago, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Chilecito, Departamento de Chilecito, La Rioja, Argentina. The tremor was recorded around noon on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022, at 12:20 pm local time, at an intermediate depth of 146 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 5.0 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.1.
