Significant 5.0 quake hits near Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte, Caraga, Philippines5.0 quake 19 Jul 2:04 am (GMT +8) An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred only 20 minutes ago 45 km northeast of Santa Monica, Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported. The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 49 km beneath the epicenter near Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte, Caraga, Philippines, early morning on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022, at 2:04 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
