Just 33 minutes ago, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Kirakira, Nakumwe, Makira-Ulawa Province, Solomon Islands. The tremor was recorded early morning on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022, at 2:09 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 128.7 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake.
