Significant magnitude 5.2 earthquake 120 km northeast of Shikotan, Russia

Just 16 minutes ago, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Shikotan, Sakhalin Oblast, Russia. The tremor was recorded early evening on Sunday, November 13th, 2022, at 6:16 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 5.2 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Shikotan (pop. 2,100) located 120 km from the epicenter, and Kuril'sk (pop. 1,700) 124 km away.
