Magnitude 3.5 earthquake strikes near Valdivia, Provincia de Valdivia, Los Rios Region, Chile

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred 34 minutes ago 48 km northeast of Valdivia, Chile, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 53 km beneath the epicenter near Valdivia, Provincia de Valdivia, Los Rios Region, Chile, in the morning on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, at 9:59 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.5 earthquake as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Loncoche (pop. 15,600, 27 km away), Las Animas (pop. 30,000, 46 km away), Valdivia (pop. 133,400, 48 km away), Panguipulli (pop. 16,300, 53 km away), Villarrica (pop. 31,600, 62 km away), Pucon (pop. 27,000, 85 km away), and Temuco (pop. 238,100, 86 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
