Small 3.4 quake hits near Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Kalgoorlie/Boulder, Western Australia, Australia 3.4 quake 20 Feb 12:04 am (GMT +8) An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 occurred 35 minutes ago 13 miles west of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Australia, Geoscience Australia (GeoAu) reported. The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles beneath the epicenter near Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Kalgoorlie/Boulder, Western Australia, Australia, after midnight on Monday, February 20th, 2023, at 12:04 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.4 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.4. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Karlkurla (pop. 170) located 11 miles from the epicenter, West Lamington (pop. 1,400) 11 miles away, Kalgoorlie-Boulder (pop. 4,200) 13 miles away, Mount Burges (pop. 100) 13 miles away, Williamstown (pop. 140) 13 miles away, and Coolgardie (pop. 860) 18 miles away. In Stoneville (pop. 2,800, 32 miles away), Kambalda West (pop. 1,700, 40 miles away), and Kambalda East (pop. 1,200, 42 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
