An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred in the morning on Saturday, June 24th, 2023, at 9:58 am local time near Iwaki, Iwaki-shi, Fukushima, Japan, as reported by Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 28.7 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
