Small magnitude 3.4 earthquake 20 km northwest of Amaliada, Greece 3.4 quake 2 Aug 6:22 am (GMT +3) A magnitude 3.4 earthquake near Amaliada, Ilia Prefecture, Western Greece, Greece, was reported 35 minutes ago by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Greece. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 21.5 km beneath the epicenter early morning on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023, at 6:22 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.3. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Arkoudi (pop. 1,300) located 2 km from the epicenter, Vartholomio (pop. 3,100) 7 km away, Gastouni (pop. 8,100) 10 km away, Andravida (pop. 3,600) 14 km away, Lechaina (pop. 3,700) 15 km away, Amaliada (pop. 16,800) 20 km away, Zakynthos (pop. 11,500) 22 km away, and Pyrgos (pop. 22,400) 33 km away. In Patras (pop. 168,000, 69 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
