Small magnitude 3.1 earthquake 9 km southeast of Sisak, Croatia 3.1 quake 9.3 km southeast of Sisak, Croatia, Aug 3, 2023 8:37 pm (GMT +2) The Eötvös Loránd Research Network of the Kövesligethy Radó Seismological Observatory in Budapest, Hungary (ELRN) reported a magnitude 3.1 quake in Croatia near Sisak, Sisak-Moslavina, 34 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the evening on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023, at 8:37 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 0 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data. A second report was later issued by Hungary's Seismological Observatory (Hungarian National Seismological Network), which listed it as a magnitude 3.1 earthquake as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 3.2, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 2.4. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage. Moderate shaking probably occurred in Bestrma (pop. 71) located 1 km from the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Mošćenica (pop. 2,500) located 8 km from the epicenter, Budaševo (pop. 1,700) 9 km away, and Sisak (pop. 35,700) 9 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Petrinja (pop. 15,700) located 13 km from the epicenter, Popovača (pop. 12,000) 24 km away, Kutina (pop. 14,900) 28 km away, and Glina (pop. 4,700) 28 km away. In Velika Gorica (pop. 31,600, 45 km away), and Zagreb (pop. 699,000, 59 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
