Significant earthquake of magnitude 6.5 just reported 31 km north of Herat, Afghanistan

An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred only 9 minutes ago 31 km north of Herat, Afghanistan, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Herat, Herat District, Afghanistan, in the morning on Sunday, October 15th, 2023, at 7:36 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
