Just 18 minutes ago, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Thursday, October 19th, 2023, at 5:09 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 19 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 3.2.

In Volcano Village (pop. 2,600, 16 miles away), Fern Acres (pop. 1,500, 27 miles away), Mountainview (pop. 3,900, 27 miles away), Hawaiian Ocean View (pop. 4,400, 28 miles away), Hawaiian Acres (pop. 2,700, 29 miles away), Hawaiian Paradise Park (pop. 11,400, 36 miles away), Hilo (pop. 43,300, 38 miles away), and Kailua-Kona (pop. 12,000, 47 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
