Small magnitude 3.7 quake hits 10 miles west of Apollo Bay, Australia around noon

Geoscience Australia (GeoAu) reported a magnitude 3.7 quake in Australia near Apollo Bay, Colac Otway, Victoria, only 27 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Monday, October 23rd, 2023, at 1:17 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 6.2 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.7 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Hordern Vale (pop. 43) located 3 miles from the epicenter, and Apollo Bay (pop. 1,600) 10 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Colac (pop. 8,800) located 28 miles from the epicenter, Lorne (pop. 1,200) 30 miles away, and Camperdown (pop. 3,200) 39 miles away. In Torquay (pop. 12,900, 53 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
