Small tremor of magnitude 3.9 reported 40 km southwest of Reykjavik, Iceland
3.9 quake Iceland: 3.6 Km N of Grindavík Oct 25, 2023 5:35 am (GMT +0)

Just 33 minutes ago, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Reykjavik, Reykjavíkurborg, Capital Region, Iceland. The tremor was recorded early morning on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, at 5:35 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 4.9 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the Icelandic Met Office (IMO), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Grindavik (pop. 2,900) located 4 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Vogar (pop. 1000) located 13 km from the epicenter, and Reykjanesbær (pop. 2,000) 15 km away.
