Significant magnitude 5.6 quake hits 71 km northeast of Bislig City, Philippines early evening

A moderately shallow magnitude 5.6 earthquake was reported early evening near Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Caraga, Philippines.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, at 6:54 pm local time at a moderately shallow depth of 46 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 5.6 earthquake as well. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.8.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Hinatuan (pop. 10,100) located 62 km from the epicenter, and Bislig City (pop. 67,600) 71 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Tagbina (pop. 10,700) located 78 km from the epicenter, Barobo (pop. 9,900) 82 km away, Lianga (pop. 13,600) 86 km away, and Tandag (pop. 29,000) 95 km away.
