Small magnitude 3.2 earthquake 7 km southwest of Legnica, Poland 3.2 quake Poland Feb 15, 2024 06:23 pm (Warsaw time) Just 18 minutes ago, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Legnica, Lower Silesia, Poland. The tremor was recorded early evening on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, at 6:23 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface. The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.8. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Krotoszyce (pop. 570) located 3 km from the epicenter. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Legnica (pop. 106,000) located 7 km from the epicenter, Goldberg (pop. 16,600) 12 km away, Jawor (pop. 23,900) 14 km away, and Lubin (pop. 77,500) 28 km away. In Bolesławiec (pop. 40,700, 38 km away), Jelenia Gora (pop. 87,300, 38 km away), Schweidnitz (pop. 60,400, 45 km away), and Waldenburg (pop. 127,400, 45 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
