Small 3.0 quake hits near Legnica, Lower Silesia, Poland 3.0 quake 21 Feb 3:24 pm (GMT +1) The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 3.0 quake in Poland near Legnica, Lower Silesia, only 12 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early afternoon on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024, at 3:24 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 2.7 earthquake. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Legnica (pop. 106,000) located 3 km from the epicenter, Jawor (pop. 23,900) 15 km away, Goldberg (pop. 16,600) 18 km away, and Lubin (pop. 77,500) 25 km away. In Strzegom (pop. 17,000, 28 km away), Jelenia Gora (pop. 87,300, 43 km away), Schweidnitz (pop. 60,400, 44 km away), Waldenburg (pop. 127,400, 46 km away), and Breslau (pop. 634,900, 62 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
