An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred early morning on Monday, August 12th, 2024, at 2:02 am local time near Yerevan, Armenia, as reported by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
