Significant 5.2 quake hits near Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte, Bicol, Philippines 5.2 quake 6 Nov 6:36 pm (GMT +8) An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred only 9 minutes ago 40 km northwest of Jose Panganiban, Philippines, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte, Bicol, Philippines, early evening on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, at 6:36 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Jose Panganiban (pop. 21,200) located 40 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Labo (pop. 18,100) located 60 km from the epicenter, Daet (pop. 78,100) 71 km away, Calauag (pop. 20,800) 79 km away, Lopez (pop. 25,800) 88 km away, Gumaca (pop. 22,500) 92 km away, and Atimonan (pop. 29,400) 97 km away.
