Magnitude 5.2 earthquake strikes near Agrihan Village, Agrihan Island, Northern Islands, Northern Mariana Islands

An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred only 10 minutes ago 121 km northwest of Agrihan Village, Northern Mariana Islands, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a great depth of 425 km beneath the epicenter near Agrihan Village, Agrihan Island, Northern Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, in the evening on Friday, December 27th, 2024, at 8:43 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency which listed the quake at magnitude 5.4. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.4.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Agrihan Village (pop. 20, 121 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
