Small magnitude 2.8 quake hits 11 miles east of Cradock, South Australia, Australia early morning An earthquake of magnitude 2.8 occurred only 21 minutes ago 11 miles east of Cradock, South Australia, Australia, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported. The quake hit at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles beneath the epicenter near Cradock, Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia, early morning on Sunday, January 12th, 2025, at 6:50 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Cradock (pop. 31) located 11 miles from the epicenter, and Belton (pop. 18) 11 miles away.
