Significant 5.2 quake hits near San Andres, San Andrés, San Andres y Providencia, Colombia An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred only 7 minutes ago 54 km southwest of San Andres, Colombia, The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5. km beneath the epicenter near San Andres, San Andrés, San Andres y Providencia, Colombia, early morning on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, at 3:32 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in San Andres (pop. 58,300) located 54 km from the epicenter.
