Moderate magnitude 4.9 earthquake 27 km northeast of Ermoupoli, Greece The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) reported a magnitude 4.9 quake in Greece near Ermoupoli, Cyclades, South Aegean, only 15 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, at 10:14 am local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Tinos (pop. 4,600) located 6 km from the epicenter, Mykonos (pop. 3,800) 20 km away, Ano Mera (pop. 1,500) 24 km away, Ermoupoli (pop. 11,400) 27 km away, Syros (pop. 1,100) 27 km away, Ermoúpolis (pop. 11,400) 27 km away, and Ermoúpolis (pop. 11,400) 27 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Andros (pop. 1,600) located 35 km from the epicenter.
