Significant magnitude 5.2 quake hits 39 miles southeast of Egegik, Alaska, United States in the evening

Just 4 minutes ago, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Egegik, Lake and Peninsula, Alaska, USA. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Monday, March 31st, 2025, at 8:04 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 6.5 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.2 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Egegik (pop. 110) located 39 miles from the epicenter, King Salmon (pop. 370) 43 miles away, South Naknek (pop. 79) 49 miles away, and Naknek (pop. 540) 50 miles away.
