Small magnitude 2.3 earthquake 35 km southwest of Tado, Colombia

An earthquake of magnitude 2.3 occurred in the morning on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at 7:59 am local time near Tado, Tadó, Departamento del Choco, Colombia, as reported by The Colombian Geological Service (SGC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 30. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.2.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Novita (pop. 1,900, 7 km away), Condoto (pop. 9,900, 14 km away), Istmina (pop. 13,800, 21 km away), Tado (pop. 17,000, 35 km away), and El Canton de San Pablo (pop. 3,300, 42 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
