Moderate tremor of magnitude 4.2 just reported 66 km northeast of Volos, Greece

Just 15 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Volos, Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Monday, June 16th, 2025, at 8:57 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.5, The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 4.2, and The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 4.0.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Frama (pop. 26) located 17 km from the epicenter, Pefkochori (pop. 1,900) 24 km away, Kassandreia (pop. 2,800) 28 km away, Nea Fokaia (pop. 1,900) 38 km away, and Neos Marmaras (pop. 3,200) 42 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Nea Moudhania (pop. 9,300) located 52 km from the epicenter, Volos (pop. 86,000) 66 km away, Nea Ionia (pop. 32,700) 66 km away, and Peraia (pop. 18,300) 91 km away.
