Small magnitude 3.8 earthquake 8 km northwest of Tirana, Albania

Just 20 minutes ago, a 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Tirana, Bashkia Tiranë, Albania. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Friday, June 27th, 2025, at 9:04 am local time, at a shallow depth of 15. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), which listed it as a magnitude 3.6 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 3.9, The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 3.6, The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 3.8, and the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) at magnitude 3.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kamez (pop. 11,000) located 3 km from the epicenter, Nikel (pop. 9,500) 7 km away, Tirana (pop. 418,500) 8 km away, Fushe-Kruje (pop. 10,500) 11 km away, and Kruje (pop. 21,300) 13 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lac (pop. 24,800) located 28 km from the epicenter, Durres (pop. 122,000) 29 km away, Kavaje (pop. 29,400) 30 km away, Burrel (pop. 15,400) 30 km away, and Lushnje (pop. 41,500) 51 km away.
