Hi All,

From what I can gather, the only free to air Greek channels are:

Optus B3 - ERT, RIKSat (conjecture as to if this is really Greek anyway)
PAS - Ant Pacific (until January anyway)

Is this right?

I am a newbie to satellite, and from what I can gather, there are different providers... is that right? How does it all work? I'm currently using UBI (I think on the Optus B3 network) and can only get ERT and RIKSat. What can I do to get Antenna Pacific? Do I need to move my dish and connect to PAS or can I just setup another transponder? If I move my dish, I gather that means that I will lose ERT and RIKSat.

Sorry for all the newbie questions, I'm sure there are simple answers....

Thanks,
goulin

Yes on Optus B3 only ERT and Rik are FTA

If you move your dish you will gain Ant1 until it encrypts but lose ERT and Rik

Thanks for that.

Alternatively, I can install a second dish... which we gave away to a friend, maybe I can get it back.

Do you know what position I need to move it to so that I can get Ant1? Once I have the right position, it's just a matter of setting up all the transponders again right? Is there a list of all the transponders for all the services (i.e. is there somewhere where you can lookup all the settings for the transponders for Optus B3, for PAS etc)?

Thanks for that.

Another question... how easy is it to adjust the dish, say if I wanted to move it from UBI to PAS8. It would just be a matter of adjusting the angle right (from 152 to 166)?

More stupid questions coming... I had the Sat installed by someone, so I've never actaully looked at it....

But... do I need some sort of tool to measure the angle, or is it guess work, or does the Sat have the angles labelled on it (depending on the Sat you have)? Because if it easy to adjust the angle, I might just move it for the few days that I can get Antenna Pacific then move it back.

Its a good idea to make some markings on the dish elevation and azimuth for B3 before moving it. Its easier to look for it when you want to move back.

Thanks for all the advice.

Chances are I just need to move the dish vertically right? There should be no horizontal movement needed?

Yeah... but not worth it now that Antenna Pacific is gone... only really after the free to air Greek channels, and unfortunately they all got encrypted.

It was good there for a while...

Looks like they're all back free to air again (on Optus B3). Not sure for how long, but I heard that they were doing it because of the slow uptake to the package

goulin i suggest u read here to the reason why there FTA has nothing to do with slow uptake there changing Encryption to Irdeto 2 so they got to replace every subscribers box to a new IR2 box and the channels are FTA til mid June

BTW it isent just Greek Channels all UBI channels are FTA if u havent already noticed
