Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.7 just reported 37 km southwest of Pinamalayan, Philippines

Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, Mimaropa, Philippines. The tremor was recorded early morning on Monday, September 15th, 2025, at 2:57 am local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.7 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Bansud (pop. 13,800) located 30 km from the epicenter, Victoria (pop. 10,100) 37 km away, Pinamalayan (pop. 43,500) 37 km away, Sablayan (pop. 38,400) 45 km away, Mansalay (pop. 23,000) 47 km away, San Jose (pop. 118,800) 58 km away, and Mamburao (pop. 23,900) 75 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Rosario (pop. 128,400) located 86 km from the epicenter, and Batangas (pop. 237,400) 101 km away.
