Small 2.7 quake hits near Pozzuoli, Naples, Campania, Italy

A very shallow magnitude 2.7 earthquake was reported early evening near Pozzuoli, Naples, Campania, Italy.
According to Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the quake hit on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, at 7:57 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 2.80 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
