Magnitude 6.9 earthquake strikes near Mati, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines Just 9 minutes ago, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Mati, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines. The tremor was recorded early evening on Friday, October 10th, 2025, at 7:12 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 56. km below the surface. The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS), which listed it as a magnitude 5.7 earthquake. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 6.4. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage. Moderate shaking probably occurred in Manay (pop. 20,300) located 34 km from the epicenter, Mati (pop. 105,900) 49 km away, Batobato (pop. 9,700) 65 km away, Lupon (pop. 27,200) 72 km away, San Mariano (pop. 18,700) 97 km away, Magugpo Poblacion (pop. 233,300) 111 km away, Panabo (pop. 84,700) 116 km away, and Davao City (pop. 1,776,900) 117 km away. In Digos (pop. 116,100) located 145 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
