Small magnitude 3.2 quake hits 10 km southwest of Glogow, Poland early evening

A magnitude 3.2 earthquake near Glogow, Głogów County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, was reported only 3 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 2. km beneath the epicenter early evening on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, at 6:11 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 2.8 earthquake. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 2.7.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Jerzmanowa (pop. 600) located 2 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Polkowice (pop. 21,600) located 9 km from the epicenter, and Glogow (pop. 65,400) 10 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lubin (pop. 77,500) located 22 km from the epicenter, and Nowa Sol (pop. 40,400) 34 km away. In Legnica (pop. 106,000, 42 km away), Leszno (pop. 63,600, 46 km away), Boleslawiec (pop. 40,700, 48 km away), and Zielona Gora (pop. 118,400, 54 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
