Moderate 4.5 quake hits near Focsani, Municipiul Focşani, Vrancea, Romania Just 29 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Focsani, Municipiul Focşani, Vrancea, Romania. The tremor was recorded early evening on Thursday, February 26th, 2026, at 7:21 pm local time, at an intermediate depth of 110.48 km below the surface. The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.4, Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) at magnitude 4.6, Romania's National Institute for Earth Physics (NIEP) at magnitude 4.4, The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 4.5, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.6, The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 3.5, and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.5.
