OP Webmaster Launch Director Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 678,976 Los Angeles, USA	Magnitude 3.5 earthquake strikes near Pozzuoli, Naples, Campania, Italy Just 29 minutes ago, a 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Pozzuoli, Naples, Campania, Italy. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at 11:19 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 2.70 km below the surface. The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it. Our monitoring service identified a second report from Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.5 as well. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Bagnoli (pop. 23,300) located 3 km from the epicenter, Pianura (pop. 57,800) 4 km away, and Pozzuoli (pop. 81,200) 4 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Soccavo (pop. 45,300) located 5 km from the epicenter, Quarto (pop. 37,700) 5 km away, Fuorigrotta (pop. 76,500) 5 km away, Marano di Napoli (pop. 49,900) 8 km away, Naples (pop. 909,000) 11 km away, and Giugliano in Campania (pop. 80,300) 12 km away.
