Magnitude 3.5 earthquake strikes near Tellebang, North Burnett, Queensland, Australia Just 12 minutes ago, a 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Tellebang, North Burnett, Queensland, Australia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, at 4:06 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 2.3 miles below the surface. The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.5 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.5. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tellebang (pop. 68) located 12 miles from the epicenter, and Monto (pop. 1,200) 21 miles away. In Gin Gin (pop. 1,100, 34 miles away), Mundubbera (pop. 1,300, 41 miles away), Gayndah (pop. 2,000, 44 miles away), and Moore Park Beach (pop. 2,700, 54 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
