Small magnitude 3.0 quake hits 18 miles southwest of Millicent, Australia late at night Just 13 minutes ago, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Millicent, Wattle Range, South Australia, Australia. The tremor was recorded late at night on Friday, May 29th, 2026, at 11:43 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles below the surface. The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.0 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.0. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Southend (pop. 250) located 11 miles from the epicenter, and Beachport (pop. 580) 16 miles away. In Millicent (pop. 4,900, 18 miles away), Moorak (pop. 1,200, 39 miles away), Mount Gambier (pop. 25,600, 41 miles away), and Robe (pop. 1,100, 41 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
