Small tremor of magnitude 3.5 just reported 2 km west of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred only 23 minutes ago 2 km west of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, Mexico's National Seismological Service (SSN) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 8.60 km beneath the epicenter near San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos, Estado de Baja California Sur, Mexico, early morning on Thursday, June 11th, 2026, at 2:33 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.5 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in El Ejido (pop. 16) located 1 km from the epicenter, San Jose del Cabo (pop. 136,300) 2 km away, La Playa (pop. 1,400) 6 km away, and Las Veredas (pop. 10,500) 11 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Las Palmas (pop. 11,600) located 26 km from the epicenter, Colonia del Sol (pop. 48,000) 26 km away, Cabo San Lucas (pop. 202,700) 26 km away, and Miraflores (pop. 1,400) 36 km away. In Todos Santos (pop. 5,100, 67 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
