Magnitude 4.5 earthquake strikes near Daruba, Morotai Island Regency, North Maluku, Indonesia An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred only 9 minutes ago 27 km northwest of Daruba, Indonesia, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 115. km beneath the epicenter near Daruba, Morotai Island Regency, North Maluku, Indonesia, in the morning on Monday, June 22nd, 2026, at 10:35 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.5 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Daruba (pop. 23,600) located 27 km from the epicenter, Tobelo (pop. 34,200) 62 km away, and Galela (pop. 8,800) 64 km away.
