Magnitude 3.2 earthquake strikes near San Juan del Cesar, Departamento de La Guajira, Colombia An earthquake of magnitude 3.2 occurred in the morning on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, at 10:43 am local time near San Juan del Cesar, Departamento de La Guajira, Colombia, as reported by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 20.40 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Dibulla (pop. 4,400) located 27 km from the epicenter. In San Juan del Cesar (pop. 40,100, 59 km away), Fonseca (pop. 32,200, 68 km away), Barrancas (pop. 38,200, 72 km away), Villanueva (pop. 18,700, 73 km away), and Riohacha (pop. 188,000, 79 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
