An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred only 16 minutes ago 22 miles west of Raton, New Mexico, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles beneath the epicenter near Raton, Colfax County, New Mexico, USA, early morning on Monday, July 6th, 2026, at 3:31 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.0 as well.
